Services for Publishers
Before I launched my own business, I spent several years working in-house at an independent trade publisher. In addition to acquisitions and editing work, I was responsible for managing editorial schedules, hiring contractors, and reviewing their work. I understand the importance of a high-skill, reliable editorial pool that respects both the scope of a project and its deadlines. I bring this perspective to all my work with publishers.
I have broad knowledge of both Chicago and AP style, and I am a quick study of in-house style guides, including cookbook style guides. My additional references for cookbooks include The Food Lover’s Companion, Recipes into Type, and The Recipe Writer’s Handbook.
I am technically proficient in Microsoft Word, including track changes, commenting, and styles (creating, applying, and managing). I am also comfortable working with Adobe Acrobat and using its mark-up tools. I follow The Chicago Manual of Style’s best practices for electronically communicating with authors.
My rates are based on industry standards set by the Editorial Freelancers Association, and I quote on a project-by-project basis. Rush rates are available.
